Sithonia, the second peninsula of Chalkidiki, is located between the peninsulas Kassandra and Mount Athos. Sithonia is surrounded by the Toronean Gulf at the east side and the Siggitic Gulf at the west, and was named to Sithon, son of the god of the sea Poseidon.

Sithonia has retained its pristine beauty and atmosphere, making it attractive to wildlife lovers. You will admire the beautiful landscapes, secluded beaches surrounded by small villages with typical Greek architecture. Only here you will enjoy the amazing combination of green and blue tones, where the lush forest vegetation meets the sea waves. Each village - Nikiti, Neos Marmaras, Yerakini, Metamorfosi, Psakoudia - has its own charm and character.
The mountain range of Itamos (or Dragoudeli) is the viggest one in Sithinia. In the central forest zone, close to the mountain top, there are some rare old Itamos trees, a unique flora variety. You can reach the top by car via the hamlet of Parthenon village or by walking through several trails.
The peninsula has a series of small fishing villages and picturesque harbours. The village of Pyrgadikia is also of interest, located on the coast in the bay between Sithonia and Mount Athos, it is built amphitheatrically on the slopes of a small peninsula and from every point you can see Mount Athos and the Sithonia leg.
